A very good friend passed away recently and his family is wanting to sell a few pistols. He had 2 of the Dan Combs .357's in the presentation cases that have never been fired. Is there any interest in them and if so what would be a fair market price. Thanks.

Don't know about the value, but they may have some collector value to the local OHP Troopers. PM Badge Bunny, she and her hubby may know your answer or know someone he works with that may know the value.

S&W commemorative pistols from this time frame command a premium only if they are NIB and have the box, papers, tools, wood box (if there was one). They will be of more sentimental value to individuals with interests in the gun, such as same agency or perhaps from/in the same state.

If they were used as a duty gun, they won't necessarily bring any more than a same-condition, non-commemorative example of the same model/dash/barrel length.

Some of the commemorative guns were made more for show that duty use. S&W seemed to put more effort into the appearance than then functionality of commemoratives.
