We have totaled two vehicles and damaged one hitting deer. The woods are right next to the road we drive into the city on, so it's impossible to see them before its too late. The worst was when my wife hit a buck, which made her vehicle do a 180 in the road, ending up in the far side ditch. She called me at work, and assured me she was ok, but the buck was really thrashing about. I was only minutes away, but by the time I got there, only a red spot was left in the road. No buck. Finally got the door opened and asked about the deer. She said that right after getting off the phone with me, two guys in a pickup came on the scene, looked right at her from a few feet away, then cut the throat of the deer and sped off, never checking to see if she was injured. They must have been real hungry.
