Took a day job three weeks ago after 16 years of nights at my current place of employment and another 10 years of rotating shifts for the department of corrections. The previous position was 12 hour shifts four days a week as in inspector on production line.Sitting and staring at bright white material with intense lighting. It was about to drive me insane.I now work in the warehouse from 7am till 3:30pm and am home at 3:40pm.Hard to get used to but I think I can adjust.:hyper:

I can sympathize with this. I work nights, every time I have an appointment/meeting/briefing, its all on dayshift, so I get to shift my hours on a whim, which sounds good on paper, but when you've been working nights the past 3 years, gets more and more tough to do. I think next week I have 3 night shifts and 2 day shifts, alternating of course, for my convenience.

Definitely an adjustment, but I think you are right, you will get used to it.

Worked nights, worked rotating shifts and worked days. Hated rotating shifts, just about the time you got used to nights, you went to days, and vice versa. If I had to choose, I would probably like nights. I can get by with about 4 hours sleep in the day, and used to do that while the kids were in school, then got to spend a lot of time with them, do lunch at school, etc.

A highway near you.
The only thing I like about night shift is it is quieter. However I feel like a vampire sometimes and miss some things that happen at "regular: hours. Oh well...I can call it quits and set my own hours in about 7 years or so.
