I had a single axle trailer I built before I built this one. I actually had a few I built and kept and used until someone wanted to buy them. My first one was made from 8" I beam with 1/4" wall thickness I made it a 4x8. The axle under it was from an early station wagon 8.2 10 bolt with posi track 3.08 gear. I hauled small cars on it like the 280Z and 240 Z stuff and a lot of Cedal slabs. I loaded that heavy enough to make the axle tubes curve up and tires rub the side boards. Empty the trailer and axles go right back to normal. That trailer today sits at a saw mill and catches slabs off the conveyor. Stupid strong. It is all I had laying around when I was 18 and I learned to weld with a stick welder making it. Yes 30,000 miles on a single axle trailer yearly. By the time I was 24 I had owned over 250 vehicles. I drove most of them and people would stop me and just have to have it. Allis Chalmers D19 gas engine tractor so not huge but a big tractor for this trailer. I will admit that. I went from my house in Yukon to my uncles in MWC to give him his tractor back. I went down Reno avenue as I am not so stupid as to try to pull and stop that load at highway speeds. That one bent my ramps.
