Deep Freezer- stand up or chest?

I need a new deepfreezer. I am thinking about getting a standup one. I only have had a chest freezer, so anyone have an experience with both these? What do you think?

I like the stand up freezer design of not having to dig down like our chest type and also it would take up less space. But not sure I can stuff as much in it or if the freezer is as efficient.

I prefer the stand up because its easier to organize.

But you cant just dump a full deer in there either...

I like a stand up better. My last one called it quits and now I don't have one at all.

You are spot on. I have had both. The stand up is much easier to organize and access what you are looking for. However, you do lose the ability to dump in the really big stuff that you can drop into a big chest type. So you will have to finishing processing the deer before it makes it to the freezer.

I use both. The standup is for normal food, the chest is for game waiting to be processed. We freeze a lot of stuff so it is nice to not have to dig through the chest. This year I have 7 deer so the chest will be full even after processing. If I had to choose just one, I would do stand up.

If you've got to choose, then I would think the versatility of the chest would be preferred.

I've had both. My wife prefers the stand up kind. It's alot easier for access but you can not store as much in it. It just comes down to whatever floats your boat. More storage or easier access.

I like a chest freezer. They hold more an bigger stuff. You can use it for a table top. When it dies, it makes a good insulated storage container.

And theres no telling what goodies you might find near the bottom when ya go digging. I once found strawberries from 05 and a bag of crappie fillets from 06. Still good.
