Even the best trained out there are easy targets. Unless you know the time you are going to have an encounter, your chances of coming out on top are pretty slim. Unless you live in a fortress a home is a very easy target. Day or Night. Surprise attacks are hard to defend against. I was out the other day on my property in the country, I always carry in the country on the farm. A guy pulls up, gets out and pretty briskly walks up to me. I had time to think about it he was about 200 feet or so away. He was closing fast, I did not have a clue who he was. A lot was going thru my mind as he approached, he was smiling which kind of put a little fear in me also. Turns out He was a young man who my Mother in Law had given permission to Hunt, I had never met him in person. He only wanted to meet me and shake my hand. I was quite relieved, He could have overtaken me quite easily if He had had ill intent. Maybe I should have raised my shirt like a gunslinger, but if he was quicker I would still be in trouble. Just the fact that every one may be armed is what keeps a common sense criminal in check, possibly. A car ride is probably the most dangerous thing a man encounters during the day. Cell phones tripled that threat. I can not believe something has not been done about cell phones and driving. With the technology we have people are still texting and driving. But if I get caught not wearing my seat belt it is a major offence. I have seen many a law enforcement officer driving like a drunk man, while he was playing on his computer or cell phone. I followed an OHP down I-40 for many miles while he drove on the shoulder and crossed the centerline, he was driving about 55 mph. I would not pass because I was afraid of being hit. I was rear-ended at a Stop sign, by a young lady on her cell phone. Changed my life. Spent a about a year in bed with very limited mobility. Have had 4 major surgeries on back and shoulder, thinking about having my neck worked on. Losing the touch feeling in my hands, due to disk compressions, bone spurs, and scar tissue, constant pain. I think of the young lady every day, I have to forgive her daily or I can have some pretty bad thoughts about her. So after all that keep on strapping that 9 mm on. Heck get a 44 mag for back up. LIve till you die. Ride ole Fu man Chu if you get a chance.
