I co-own a business there with my ex-wife and also still live there part time. Before buying a home in Oklahoma and moving here to be with my current wife, and getting my permit here- I was one of those older permit holders there when it was a 'may issue' state. I moved there from my native California in 00',which is also a 'may issue' state, and was where I got my first permit. I would be pretty POd if my name was on that list. This doesnt surprise me about that newspaper. My ex FIL used to be the CEO of the Prairie Meadows horse racing track/casino just outside Des Moines in Altoona,Ia and he was always getting raked over the coals by that rag of a newspaper for just about every move he made and the amount of money they were paying him, besides having Iowa politicians for 'buddies'. It was a usual day for us to come by her parents house and her father would be out playing golf with Tom,errr, Gov Vilsack ( the now Secretary of Agriculture who already has caused a disturbance in DC) . They always made her dad sound like a shady character in the papers- a big burly Italian raised on the east coast, a former CEO of Vegas casinos, plus he had been in charge of gaming for the Govt on US bases in Germany and had US Govt security clearance when he would be in DC. He moved to Iowa to help them set up casino operations at the horse racing tracks to try and help their struggling horse racing industry there. Her parents moving there was the main reason why we moved there and the reason Im even in the midwest. I freaking hate it there, but I have business there and a kid there so I have to go there regularly. Ive fallen in love with Oklahoma though is why Im living down here. Still, that article is something I would expect the Tulsa World to try and do.
