I finally got my hands on the new Winchester PDX1 .22Mag ammo. It's 40 grain instead of the advertised 45 grain. From my little NAA with a 1 5/8 inch barrel it fully penetrated a 9 inch jug (Tidy Cat Kitty litter jugs) of water and stopped in the second.
Next I tried CCI Stingers. Same story.
Next I tried Hornady Critical Defense .45ACP 185 grain. Same story, but a bit more spectacular.
In the video the shots are fired in the above order. After each live shot there are two or three still frames of the jugs before shooting, then the track of the bullet going through the water.
The last still is in this order: CCI Stinger, Winchester PDX1 expanded, Winchester PDX1 that didn't expand, Hornady Critical Defense .22 Mag from an earlier test, and finally Hornady Critical Defense .45ACP.
I was disppointed that the Hornady CD .45ACP wouldn't penetrate 18 inches of water, but I was impressed with the expansion.
