According to the video in the above article; the aircraft flies faster than an M1 Garand bullet (SR-71 top speed 2193.2 miles per hour converts to more than 3216.69333 feet per second; the M1 muzzle velocity is 2800 feet per second).

One of the coolest planes out there....back when they wanted a superior plane for a mission, not a "do all" plane that was "somewhat OK" at everything they wanted it to do.

Yeah, amazing airplane. I had the opportunity years ago to talk to a maintainer who had worked on these things. I have seen the one in Hutchinson. If you are interested in aviation and have not been to the Cosmosphere in Hutch, you really should go.

My late uncle by marriage was instrumental in getting the Hutchinson, Kansas Cosmosphere theirs. Saw it when it arrived and they set it in place then built the building back around it.

This has always been one of my favorites.

The very first twin engine airplane I ever rode in was a Cessna 337 Skymaster. Year 1971. Neat Aircraft but very noisy in the cabin. Grew up around General Aviation and got to see and fly in some very neat airplanes.
