GRATEFUL ten-year-old Charlie Riley hugs the brave pet dog who saved his life from a speeding hit-and-run driver.

German Shepherd-Collie cross Geo pushed Charlie out of the way as a pick-up truck mounted the kerb and hurtled towards him.

The courageous canine took the full force of the vehicle, but is expected to make a full recovery despite a broken leg, fractured spine and severe bruising.

The smash came as Charlie walked seven-month-old Geo with his mum Carly, 28, and brothers, Josh, seven, and four-year-old Ben.

That dog is awesome! If he was mine, no more milkbones. I'd be keeping frozen Whitecastles for his dog treats.

The dog was not trying to save the kid. The kid had a corndawg in his hand and the dog tried to get it, and knocked the kid over.

Give me a break.
