There are two on most dryers and some have three.The first controls the temp in the dryer, the second is there to shut it down, should the first fail. They are tied in series, with one having a higher temp failure than the other. You'll have to check them both. Last time I had one fail, they would only sell me both in the same package.On some, the third is a Last-Chance-Fail type of safety.
