EV's of the future will not have batteries like today... or EV's will not be plentiful or "the car of the future".
Problem with the batteries are the components. A gas engine is iron and aluminum, easily found in the earth's crust and easily refined. EV batteries are nickel, cobalt and 10 other hard to dig elements. Unless 'we' are willing to destroy the parts of the earth that contain these components, EV's will be a fad.

Oh heck no! The greenies don't mind eagles being killed by wind farms, so they won't mind mining rare minerals to create a narrative that battery is better.

You guys miss the point of EV's... it's the people that drive them that talk about how they could save the earth. Elon Musk, on the other hand, is in it to make money. He's a capitalist first.

I've always agreed about the batteries. While li-ion is a good tech, it's not the final form. They're currently rolling through aluminum-ion batteries that charge incredibly fast. Like, charge an ev PowerBank quicker than filling up type speed. But like every technology in the history of man, we must exhaust each level of tech before moving on to the next.

Sounds like two camps of thought; those that see the EV becoming more common and those who would have found reasons to downplay the idea of those dang horseless carriages.

Obviously the number of charging stations and the efficiency of those will improve. Biden going to build 50,000 by the end of the year,or something like that.

It’s the around town usage that this potential purchase would see, so many of the current concerns aren’t deal killers. This vehicle replacement is likely not going to happen for a few weeks, so the jury is still out.

Thank you to those who have actual experience with the EV idea. Quite helpful thoughts and facts.

Bought the wife a new car last week and came very close to buying a new Tesla model 3. I live 3 miles from the Superchargers at the Outlet Mall so that was a plus. No oil changes or coolant changes and things like that. OKC now has a Tesla showroom in automobile alley downtown. That would be a good place to start.

So since the gov't won't let anymore power plants be built and everybody is going electric vehicles.
Who will get to charge their EV and who will sit in the dark with no power?
This nation is already experiencing brown and blackouts now.
Like you get home and it's 90 degrees outside but you can't run your a/c cause the privileged guy across town is recharging his car.
We don't need 3-400 million new drains on the power grid.
Or is it that when they push the magic 5G button, The covid vaccine nanobots will activate and reduce the population by 90 percent?
