A cousin of my fathers spent his life teaching in Riverside, California. When he would come to visit us his kids would tell us how far behind Oklahoma was. He was fluent in Spanish and he retired around forty years ago. So was Californis educators that many years ahead? No. The problems they were having with immigration was ahead of us and their society was degrading faster than ours. Your post has a lot of sad humor in it.
