For me personally i favor the new SR22 pistol released in 2012 by ruger firearms, but that may be because i don't have a ton of range time with it yet ( only have around 800-1000 rounds through it) so there could be problems along the road, my current collection of .22 handguns are:
Ruger sr22
Heritage arms roughrider
Ruger single six
Sig saur mosquito
S&w m&p 22
Beretta bobcat
taurus model .22
Beretta cheetah
Beretta neos
Ruger mark I
Ruger mark II
Ruger mark III
Ruger 22/45
Browning buckmark
S&w model .22

Buckmark, hands down. They're very accurate, ergonomic, attractive, available in a ton of configurations and the aftermarket is pretty big. It beats the Ruger because the upper isn't the serialized part, making barrel swaps a breeze. When you've poured a metric buttload of rounds through them, you can rebuild the entire slide for about $25. Doing a trigger job is as easy as dropping a match target trigger with overtravel stop in and reversing one spring. Customer service? I needed to rebuild the slide on my wife's early Buckmark recently. They've discontinued and run out of some parts for the 1st gen slides. A new slide retails for $102. They sent me one for free!

Now that I've waxed poetic, here's the obligatory BM Porn. :)

I think the Buckmark is the best all around. My fav is my S&W 63. My mom bought it new when I was a kid and it took me years to talk her into selling it to me. I enjoy shooting it more then any of the other 22s I have.

I pretty much agree. The Buckmark is a great gun. I hadn't shot one in about 20 years (belonged to a buddy) and I was at the range one day recently with my Ruger 22/45. A girl next to me had inherited a Buckmark and offered to let me shoot it. I never fired my Ruger after that and sold it.

I had a Smith 34 (blued version of the 63) and it is awesome! Brother owns it now.
