I know the feeling. One of my other hobbies is building and flying radio controlled airplanes. One day, at the flying field, an older gentleman showed up with his new trainer. He was fairly familiar with it and had flown it before, but he was still a bit nervous. I was in the process of breaking in a new engine but told him to let me know if he needed any help. As I worked on my engine I occasionally looked up to keep track of his plane. He seemed to be doing well so I went back to breaking in my engine. I glanced up again and noticed his plane was pretty far away and noticed he seemed to be having a hard time controlling it. I quickly shut my engine down and asked "You still got it?" In an amazed tone his reply was "You can still see it?!" Luckily I was able to bring it back and land it for him. He was really thankful. Being able to help felt really good. Glad you could experience a similar feeling at the range.
