tyromeo55 is correct. Many people think that you get in the business with very little investment. And that you get rich over night. And there is no risk at all. Many people that attempt this actually have college degrees in business and they fail. I have seen several gun shops open and close just as fast as they open. because of bad business practices, poor planning, management, and not having the right connections in the trades. Then I have seen them go under because they break the law with ATF, Oklahoma Tax commission, or something as simple as the city Zoning commission. One of the main players that you need to know if you want to actually want to get started is wholesaler. And you will find there are different kinds. I am a wholesaler. Do you have the $15,000. buy in that most manufacturers require for you to play? That is what it cost to do business. As a wholesaler I do not charge my Dealers that, and I carry almost all the brands, and I had to pay those start up buy ins. I have several dealers that purchase from me, that is why I have a show room, and warehouse The next thing, is are you willing to devote some time to this. We are here to answer any questions you have, feel free to drop by. We would not be doing it if was not fun. But it is time consuming, you can not make everyone happy, even though you try. And you could loose everything. Some have. In fact some days I even look at my inventory and think of selling it all and cashing it in selling the business. Then I remember how much fun it is. Another bunch of customers come in, or I build some other way out weapon that looks real cool, and that keeps me going for another month or two.
