First Gun!!!

A while ago I posted being new to the forum and Area, never owned a gun until today....
I bought a Glenfield model 60 (made by marlin) payed 120 bucks for it and had nice conversation with the seller about gun related topics it's got the Glenfield scope, does the JM stamp mean anything?

The JM stamp means it was made before Remington bought Marlin out.

I think I've got the carbine of that model but I'm too lazy to look in the safe right now. Mine is about 45 years old.

The fist two digits in the serial number subtracted from 2000 should give you the year of manufacturing.

If it is 1961 I'm going to cry!

Awesome, now for some ammo.. Atwoods doesn't have any good deals this week but you can often get the Aquila or blazer for $1.99 a box..
