Fish ID help

Anybody know what kind of fish this is?
About 8 inches long, caught at Overholser using a live worm on the bottom.
Very light silver in color.
The dorsal fin opens up in front.

I've looked up images of shad and they don't seem to match.

Any ideas?

Yup it’s a drum. Commonly caught using worms on the bottom. That being said I’ve caught them plenty on crappie jigs too.

They’re decent eating in the 1lb-5lb range. Not a premium sport fish, but not bad either.

I've caught bigger ones in Hefner but never seen a small one. Threw me off.

I tied into one about 26" fishing for sandies a few years ago... what a scrap on 4# line with a 6 1/2' ultralight.

My family survived on drum when stationed at Ft Leavenworth in the 70's.
I could get night crawlers from the golf course at night, and fish when getting off work in the Missouri river.
It's pretty good fish to eat. Tough to fillet with an extra bone around the upper part of the fish, but once one learned how to get around it, no problem.
