As they travel through the water with their mouth open to gather plankton, it swam into my crappie jig on 6 lb line getting legally hooked inside the mouth. Wasn't a big one, just 30 lbs but I had to run across rip rap and finally down the sandbar 1/4 mile or so before it finally swam into some shallow water where I was able to wade out and grab it by the paddle. That was my first paddle fish. It had the line on the spool down to a few turns a couple of times before getting some line back. All have been snagged since.</blockquote>
