Toothpick - I do exactly like Bassin said. I have a clover field along a live creek and at the edge of the timber I have a mineral lick. I put approx 25 pounds in late January or February and add the balance of the bag in May. The usage seems to pretty well stop by mid to late July. I had a second lick out on the North 50 acres along a travel corridor but it had little pressure so I discontinued. I am just using 1 lick on the 100 acres and it always gets hit hard during the Spring until July when it really tapers off. I hope this answers your question.

Just how close to water are you talking?

Got a 30 acre plot with two ponds on it, one of which is extremely small. It's surrounded by by more acreage that has feeders and the deer roam a wide area. With only 30 acres, just pick a high traffic trail?
I wouldn't be as concerned about close to water as putting it in an area deer frequent. They get a lot of moisture from green browse and vegetation.

It’s rained plenty, but this flooding comes more from rains in Kansas than from local rain. The question is how long will the Corps of Engineers keep it backed up...:anyone:

They can’t dump the reservoir’s on the Arkansas River chain because the Mississippi River needs to drain all of the floodwaters in the northern drainage where they are having record floods.
It’s not going to get better any time soon.
