^^ You are correct Lurker -- like I said in my earlier post, the FR8 is large ring /K98 based and can handle any 7.62 or .308 spec load and then some. The FR7 is a small ring, and some people worry about them running full house .308 loads.

I saw 4 FR8's at the big show.
I bought one of them.
1 was a bit high like $600-700 although it was the only one which had a bayonet.
1 had the rear sight removed but was priced the lowest at $350.
1 had some stock repair, I didn't see the pricetag, somebody else was handling it, and when I saw the repair I moved along.
When I went back to check it out, it was gone.
I'm pretty sure I got the best overall deal the one I got was marked $400 and is pretty clean.
I'm very interested in that scout conversion henschman posted, I'll have to research that.

missed an auction today one for sale in ark city ks so it could be picked up. on gun broker it sold for $335. non matching with sling. a scout is going for less money auction is still open
