[QUOTE="sh00ter, post: 3545935, member: 24531"] I have great respect for the native american cultures and historical significance as well as the role they play and contributions in modern times. If white liberals existed back when the settlers came, they would probably tell the native americans that they needed to "spread the wealth around" and that claiming all that land for a few million people was akin to the rich of today. The native americans came across the land bridge from Asia, risking everything as the original pioneers of this new land and for that and many other reasons I respect them. But they would likely have not left if there were already other people on this continent. Conquest built this world and I am glad for the good and sad for the bad that became of all of it, but now that we are all here in 2021, hammering the grievances of the past only serves to divide this nation and push us back to tribalism. If all of the European ancestry people left tomorrow, tribes would still form and not all live in harmony. We have to unite around common values of family, responsibility, pride in our current nation and the life it provides us, hard work, the bill of rights, etc. I might view things differently if there was one pan-Indian tribe that had established a central government and a military, but that isn't what happened. The Chinese or the Russians would have eventually come, and the outcome would be much worse. In my opinion, we need to love and respect each other as fellow Oklahomans and family men regardless of biological factors or historical heritage that is beyond our control. I mean all this with the utmost respect for everyone; even if they see it different. I sure have seen a lot of Native tags on pickups with Trump stickers or pro-american bumper stickers...I think the native americans think for themselves just like any group and many of them are very patriotic despite the past injustices...they hunt, fish, shoot, build, etc...they are avg conservative Oklahomans as far as I can tell...I love them as my brothers & sisters, and many of them are themselves Christians.
