For the last few weeks a young un-neutered male German shorthair/Lab Mix (our best guess - see pics) has been appearing around my neighborhood vic. Lake Lawtonka. My wife and I have been feeding and playing with him and trying to get him into a shelter or foster family situation but all of our local places are full and have been for weeks - sadly our locale seems to be a dumping ground for folks to get rid of unwanted cats and dogs. Some pics: This guy is very friendly and mild mannered with us, and our neighbors say he is also good with other dogs - I can't confirm that because my german shepherd is not good with other dogs so we have to keep them separated. He likes to play and seems generally submissive to both men and women. Several weeks ago he let us put an international orange collar on him BUT when we tried to leash him he backed off violently and ran. Since then he has come back several times and we have rebuilt a rapport with him. I believe that someone who is used to large dogs (~85 lbs) and is willing to handle him gently will find that this dog can make a great pet and playmate for other dogs. We are willing to pay a vet for his neutering if that is of concern to a potential adoptive family. The biggest issue is likely to be finding him at any given time and convincing him to get into a car or truck. If interested please PM me here or call 229-548-0642.
