    how close does this thing hold to the ankle? It looks like it's a little bulky.

    The piece that holds it around your ankle in neoprene and velcro. On the inside, it is a sheepskin. I don't have a lcr anymore, but the one I have for my SW642 has been used for over 10 years and still working great.
