A feller CAS member asked me to chronograph some very light BP loads in .45Colt. I loaded 5 shells with 10 grains of Goex FFFg, topped the case off with cornmeal, then seated a 140 grain roundball and fired them through my Walker with R&D conversion cylinder. For comparison I also chronographed 5 loads with a 250 grain bullet over 1.9cc of 777 FFg.

I was kinda surprised to see flame from the light BP load.

What were your velocities?

The RB loads averaged 521fps with a 12fps spread. The 777 loads averaged 923fps with a 25fps spread.

I also learned from watching the video, I need to get consistent with where I put my left thumb. Where I had it part of the time is not a good place when shooting semi-autos. :)
