I have two, and just ordered another. This time a CMP Special 30.06-I can't afford many of them but it is like a new Garand. I have to stop buying though, the wife is getting suspicious of me spending so much time in the closet.

The wait has really come down. I dropped my order for 2 SG's in the mail on 9/1 and both will be here tomorrow. One was actually here earlier in the week, but I was unable to get to FedEx. It shipped early since I let them switch it to a Springfield. The second is an HRA. My .308 took just 6 weeks. I'm thinking about dropping another order in the mail.

Some of the SG SA M1's coming out of the CMP now have been very interesting - they're Army-returned WW2 mixmasters with original barrels  which would make a very good basis for a "correcting" of a WW2 M1. Especially if it's a late-war issue. I'd love to get such a rifle in the mail, but with the 3-4 month wait, they could easily be on another batch of Greek or Turkish returns when my order came up.

Keep your fingers crossed!

Here's my current order timeline.

11/12/2013 Order mailed
12/03/2013 DBU received
12/12/2013 Order rec'd #492301
01/14/2014 Case added
01/14/2014 CC hit SN 2001019
01/24/2014 11:39 am Shipment information sent to FedEx

Serial number makes it October '43 manufacture. Probably around the first week of the month.

There's a guy at the CMP forums who started tracking order info, and someone else came up with this data from that:

"DBU" is the "Don't Bother Us" email that tells you they've got your order.

Here's a list of order timelines:

You going to catch a cold Sunday evening? :wink2:

My order is about a week to ten days behind yours, but the timeline seems to be stretching a bit these days. Probably the pendulum swinging back to a relative abundance of HRA's vs. SA's, since the former is available now but the latter is "sold out".

Looking forward to the pics of what you get - who knows, you might find an original barrel on that rifle!

There are many like it, but 2001019 is MINE!

Arrived today, 76 days after I sent the order off. Right as I lifted it out of the case, my phone PINGed with the delivery notification. My alert tone is the Garand clip PING." Beautiful timing, no?

I could not be happier with this. I ordered it without any special requests. I got what looks like old wood, a WW2 serial, and 2+/2 on the wear. There's just a tiny bit of rust by the forwardmost (stacking?) swivel. But I love the stock, dings and all. Not sure if I'll refinish it, but I probably won't steam it. For a first Garand, when I all I wanted was a shooter, I think I

The serial number works out to October 43. The barrel is marked 2-SA-10-43. Op rod drawing number is D35382 9 SA, which I think makes it Nov 43 - Oct 45. There's no letter after the SA though. Per USRIFLECAL30M1.com, the original op rod should have been a -6, not a -9.

Receiver is D28291 30, and above that is B11 B with a diamond after the the second B.

Trigger housing is 6528290-SA.

Looks like you did well!

Is the chamber bright? Judging by the barrel and receiver it looks like it could be the original barrel. What does the barrel gauge?

Any markings on the stock?

I tried to look at your album but it is set to private.

Jim
