Getting a new (to me) ride. Just needs a "little" work.

It's a 3/4 ton, extended cab, short bed, 4x4, Silverado with the 5.7L engine.

Only has 138,000 miles on it.
Good part it was very, very, cheap. Engine is sound and runs great.
Bad part, transmission is cratered and entire exhaust needs replaced.

Body is almost perfect with no rust.
Inside the only major defect is it needs a new driver-side door panel.

I've been hunting for one in this configuration for about 5 years now....

Nice! I've been looking for a decent inexpensive extra cab or crew cab truck for years. They're getting hard to find.

I plan to get the tranny rebuilt, fix the oil leak, replace the exhaust and get it back on the road.
Then I'll need to replace the driver-side door panel and headliner, add a brake control module for towing, do a full tune up and massively upgrade the stereo system.

Further down the line I may look at going to a 4-barrel carb, and maybe a 2-3" lift and AT style tires.

I'll have to have it done. I can work on an engine but I'm clueless on the transmissions.

I'm picking it up tonight. Have to get it flat-bedded all the way from Noble to north of downtown OKC.

Yep ,I can swap em out for a rebuild but cannot do the rebuild LOL!!

They will fit in a trunk of a small car.
Yea I know these things. Oh a large car trunk will also work I picked up a core 2004R to rebuild the other day and it is still in the trunk of my '57 car.
I have not rebuilt one of those but I have rebuilt a few automatics and they aren't that difficult.
Special tools make it easier and cleaning parts is the worst part of it all. spend all day cleaning.

That is a good looking truck and should have a lot more miles left in it.

If you're looking to have the stereo done, I know a guy who is a whiz with those trucks in Tulsa. He has done all of my stereo and alarm work, helluva guy. Also a gun guy and a member on this board, though he isn't really active here. He's done 10s of thousands worth of work on my vehicles and has helped me build a monster stereo into my Tahoe and my Z. Give me a shout if you're interested.
