Typical Dept of Education sign. No one proofread the sign.

Which gear do you think is the one interfering?

If the Trump adm can pull off doing away with the Fed Dept of Ed so many things could be addressed in schools the way they are intended-state level. Keeping NCLB has killed education in so many aspects. We need vocational skills back in the schools and not only on the vo-tech campuses. If a kid isn’t making the cut they get a basic ed in on-site vocational classes and if the student shows they are ready for vo-tech advanced classes then they can go their jr and sr yr.
Guys, I got news for you: education has been screwed up since at least 1910. Quite possibly longer than that. NCLB didn't cause the problems. Didn’t fix anything, either, though it was supposed to do just that. I think we went wrong when we got away from The Little Red Schoolhouse, from back before Red meant Communism. Too many admirers of the Prussian method. The Prussians were teaching young men to be factory workers to support the Army, or soldaten to be in the Army.
This. Stop taxing for schools and allow parents to pick/pay for the school of their choice.
And from my admittedly short experience as a teacher, too many of the kids would be sitting at home watching TV.

On the fence with this. Yes, Dept of Ed should be cleaned out, sanitized of all politics, and the stupid CRT. Education must get back to reading, writing, arithmetic, computers, and physical education. I do agree the States should have much more input and power in regulating the public school systems of their own citizens. However, there are few things that really need to stay national, only to be regulated by the Fed. Requirements, such as, the Pledge of Allegiance, corporal punishment, civics, and history, should be mandated across the board, and regulated under national standards. Otherwise, you'll have California kids that don't know about the civil war, or the Pledge of Allegiance, and likely never been spanked in their life.

Education is not the role of the feds, per the constitution . Unless it’s specifically enumerated in the constitution, those powers belong to the states, per the 10th amendment.

James Madison, Federalist, no. 45, 313--14. The powers delegated by the Constitution to the Federal Government, are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State Governments are numerous and indefinite.

I understand the constitutional implications.
