the shield feels like its going to pop out of your hand and yet the 43 is smaller and lighter? Everything I have seen says the 43 has a much snappier recoil...

It's just the way the grip on the Shield is made. I own both. Like the 43 better and I'm not a Glock lover. Recoil is much the same force wise, very managable

Shield with a drop in Apex trigger is hard to beat IMHO.

I love my G43. I have a shield, and it got handed to the lady, and I customized my G43 to my liking, not because it needed it. I think the shield is nice if you have a weaker grip, being a little bit larger. But, like someone else said, "at the end of the day, I wanna carry my larger pistols... I just don't because this is too easy".
