There have always been things to become addicted to and the weed proponents will argue all day long about the alleged benefits. It would be amusing to watch a polling place and see all of the fine Oklahomans voting for the 2nd time in their lives for recreational weed. Facts are both drug addiction and alcoholism are ruining the lives of many people. Let’s make drugs and alcohol as easy to get as possible. Might as well make prostitution legal while we are at it. Morality is at an all time low and sinking.
I had the "privilege" of working one of our voting precincts for the vote on medical marijuana a couple of years ago. Very large turnout, but I had to turn away several potential voters due to them not knowing that registration was a requirement.

So in your opinion we only have the rights specified in the constitution and all other rights are held by the state?
I was responding to a specific example of guaranteed freedoms. Using their logic, cocaine and meth should be legal as well.

I didn't read this full thread. From what I did read though, a lot of you folks posting could really benefit from a hit of some good reefer; you're wound way too tightly.
One way to look at it. Instead of tempering your own thoughts and actions rely on a substance to help do it for you. Weak mindedness in my opinion.

Yep. As a general rule dope smokers aren’t the brightest peas in the pod.

You folks do what you want, I will be voting against it.
I’m certain it will pass. All of the folks who voted last time will be out again. Most will be voting during the day since they don’t have jobs to go to. I’d be interested to see the number of those who vote yes compared to those on some type of public assistance programs. I bet the percentage would be large.

Deal. What recourse do I have when you abuse weed and my tax dollars are used to remedy the decision you made?

The exact same recourse you have when your tax dollars are spent on every other thing you believe is immoral. Exactly the same as every other registered voter in this country.

Vote your morals. Don’t begrudge everyone else for voting theirs.

I'm quite fortunate that I don't have to take meds on a regular basis. (only for allergies, or some calamity I've stepped into)

The medical MJ does pique my interest for one main reason. When my son was trying to get off opioids and control his anxiety/depression, smoking weed helped. Unfortunately, he was required to drug test fairly often, so MJ was a big no.

I'll always wonder if it had been legal in 2017 if it would have helped. He's beyond that now, but maybe it could help someone else that has bigger problems than smoking some weed.
I agree with that sentiment. There are plenty of military veterans suffering from various types of mental illness; depression, anxiety, PTSD, ect. A few clicks and a few reads from different studies shows the medical benefits of medical MJ towards those suffering. It's difficult to turn a blind eye on those facts.
Also, it's easy to see what recreational substances are more harmful. I enjoy beer/alcohol, but it definitely has a lot of medical downfalls. MJ, obviously not the best for you, has a lot less cons.
