Do yourself a favor and get a smoke tube right now. I load mine with pellets and Jack Daniels oak chips. I have a Big Green Egg and a Pit Boss pellet grill. A buddy has a BGE and a top end Traeger pellet grill. Both of us are disappointed in the amount of smoke with the pellet grills and the BGEs are clearly better for smoke flavor. That's pretty much the only caveat, The pellet grills do cook good and are definitely convenient, and we are glad to have them, but we both tend to go the the BGE if it's an expensive cut of meat. A smoke tube definitely helps add more smoke to your cooks. Pellet grills burn so efficiently there isn't a lot of smoke to be had. Other than that they are pretty good and that one you bought ought to be fantastic as far as pellet grills go. :thumb: Now you need to get up to speed on pellets. If you are a Sam's club member the pellets they sell are by far the best deal out there, all hardwoods and no alder or other fillers. Next up is Jealous Devil Jax pellets, I get those from Walmart and have them shipped. Everything else is way more expensive and the juice just isn't worth the squeeze. Most are mostly just alder for the most part. Alder isn't bad for smoking but it ain't hickory, cherry or oak.
