I've said it before, but it's worth tossing out there again. Giving up never leads to success. There was a time people said coal would never replace wood. "Why pay to dig underground when free trees are out my back door?" There was a time people said natural gas would never replace whale oil. There was a time people said electricity would never replace gas. Steam power will never replace hydropower. Diesel tractors will never replace steam tractors. Imagine where we'd be if they gave up on the internal combustion engine in the early days when one horse could pull four or five times as much. It's easy to bash new power technologies in their shortcomings while they're this young. Fossil fuels date back to the 1700's. Of course we've made strides, but if people then had this give up attitude, we'd all still be burning wood.
