I'm a huge fly-fishing aficionado. The gear those tarpon fishing guys use dwarfs my little 3 and 4 weight rods. Tie my own flies, etc. When I was a kid, before I can remember, my Grandpa bought a 14' V bottom boat to be used as a family boat among the 5 grown kids and their kids. It was always in use. Come and get it, take the boat motor out of the tool shed, use it, bring it home, take the 10hp Johnson off and put it back into the tool shed and turn the boat over on the trailer. Don't do it, and you can't use it again. My dad was a not so serious fisherman but I was ate up with it. Many evenings of him rowing me around lake Ponca while I cast for bass is a great memory. Trolling motors were just starting back then and we didn't have one. Guess what? I still have that boat and trailer! (along with another) The wood was getting in disrepair and one day decided to rebuild it with all new wood and even used some of the artificial wood to put it back into somewhat new condition along with a barely used 20 hp Merc. My GPS says 28 mph with just me in it.
