I hadn’t shot since I was in the Air Force back in the 1990s. Except for qualification on an M-60 machine gun, I don’t think I ever shot at a target over 25 yards away until just recently. A friend invited me to shoot his 300 win mag at the Tri-Cities range last summer. I could barely see the target at 100 yards to even line up the scope. I got a few hits once I got a  good natural point-of-aim. Just for fun, I tried to see if I could hit the 100 yard target with my Henry Golden Boy .22LR lever-action. Without a scope, I don’t even think I got close. I need to practice at longer ranges with my rifle, but with handguns, I don’t see a need past 25 yards. Heck, the average engagement range for self-defense is around 7-8 yards. Any closer than that, I’d have to resort to Judo.</p></blockquote><p></p>
