I've been a cop, totin' a pistol for 35 years. Throughout my travels I have discovered that "gun guys" are more arrogant and staunchy but also wishy-washy and fickle than women's clothing designers. What's hot and popular today, won't be in a few months. If something latest and greatest comes out, the rich guys will buy em and show em off and by the time the poor guys (like me) save up enough, or trade around to get one, they've lost their luster and you can't resell it without taking a helluva loss. That's why I'm a Glock guy. I can still get em on the blue label at an LE discount. They maintain their value and the aftermarket support (holsters, sights, etc) is incredible. Are there haters? Oh HELL yes. Do I care? Oh HELL no. Love em or hate em, the damned things work when others won't.
