I agree, the 642 is an awesome carry gun. Either that, or it's sibling, my 442 rides in my pocket daily. Why do I have one of each you may ask? Because in general, Snubs rock, and I like to dress them up in purdy grips according to my wishes, and because they go bang, and because of the short list from which have to choose, it's the only all-around choice for carry and HD as stated so well above. There's a reason the 642/442 revolvers are best sellers...oh, and did I say that Snubs rock? Take that class, my young friend, with a semi-auto and then practice with and carry that 642. You'll figure out through trial and error what you might want for a carry pistol in time. Just go to the range and try some out. Stay with established names, stay away from the cheap junk guns and know that if, when on the range, you sufficiently admire and oogle the fine pistol(s) in the lanes on either side of you, it will often lead to conversation and an offer of "Would you like to shoot it?" My regular range buddy now carries a 642 as well, after having shot mine a bit and I betcha he would agree, if and when he reads this, and not just because I am smarter and better looking than him either. Plus, a 642 is not as prone to failure due to being dirty, and he is also slovenly when it comes to that. But one thing I will give him besides his choice in friends, he can count to 10 better than I can.
