I gifted him the pieces (action, barrel, scope, stock, etc),,,
For a very nice 10/22 build that he named "Penny".

He assembled the components and loves his rifle,,,
It shoots as well as I expected it to do.

Now he has a birthday coming up,,,
I've decided to gift him some ammo to feed Penny.

So now I have a decision to make,,,
Just what brand/type to get him.

I've narrowed it down to three choices:

500 Round Brick - 22 LR 40 Grain Round Nose Semi Auto Eley Benchrest Precision Ammo
$124.95 at sgammo.com

The thinking is that he (and I) are both curious as to how much difference there actually is,,,
Between this premium ammo versus our go-to of CCI-SV.

500 Round Brick - 22 LR 42 Grain Round Nose Semi Auto Eley Benchrest Outlaw Ammo

$72.58 at sgammo.com
The thinking is the same as for the brick of Eley Benchrest Precision, just a lower cost.

500 Round Brick - 22 LR CCI Standard Velocity Ammo with 40 Grain Lead Bullet

$38.95 at sgammo.com
This has been our go-to ammo for quite awhile now,,,
If I go this route I'll probably go ahead and get him three bricks of this.

My other option would be to order a brick of the Benchrest Precision,,,
And split it into two 250 round packages.

One for me and one for him,,,
So we can both try it out.

If I go this route I'll also get him two or three 500 round bricks of CCI-SV,,,
The man has seven kids to feed, clothe, and house.

He will prioritize any spare money to his kids,,,
This will ensure that we can go shooting many times.

There are several different types of Eley on their website,,,
I'm not familiar with the different types so if anyone has a better suggestion for a 10-22 let me hear your reasoning.

Thanks in advance,,,

I'm chuckling here,,,

If money us a factor to him at all,

The man has seven kids,,,
'nuff said?

But I do see what your getting at,,,
I can get him three times the amount of CCI-SV,,,
For what one brick of that ELEY Benchrest ammo would cost.

CCI-SV is probably the way I'll go,,,
Quantity versus quality.

I solved the dilemma in the easiest way possible,,,
I (ever so casually) asked him which ammo he would spend his money on.

So it's going to be a brick or three of CCI-SV.

Or,,,
I could gift him a 5,000 round case of Remington Mil-Surp SV ammo,,,
It came from the Civilian Marksmanship Program webstore.

I bought 4 cases of it many years in the past for $75.00 each,,,
I can't see a measurable amount of difference,,,
Between it and CCI-SV.

Both are 40 grain LRN and the 4,200 rounds I've fired over the years all went bang,,,
It's the ammo I've been using to practice shooting my CZ-457 Pro Varmint,,,
I've switched back and forth from the mil-surp to CCI-SV,,,
The scope stays right on target with either.

Just musing,,,

I made the decision:

I'm going to gift him one of my 5,000 cases of that Remington Mil-Surp SV ammo,,,
And a Ruger 25 round mag for his 10/22 build.

Quantity and a fun-stick to utilize the ammo.
