We are using a Henry 17hmr now with a Nikon scope. It does fine but only will feed Hornady ammo. Winchester gets stuck in the tube. Some other little issues. Paint is coming off the receiver pretty bad. The scope is fine, too but I get a black tunnel pretty easy with it. Heard that is a problem with Nikon's. So going to make it a secondary gun and get a new primary. This gun will be used hard, prairie dogging. After it is sighted in, 100% of rounds will be fired at live targets. Going with a Browning T-Bolt in synthetic most likely. I like the action and think the capacity and design of the magazine is excellent. Trying to decide on the scope. Want a 4-12x40mm. Thinking Leupold but open to others. Not real savvy on all of the fancy scope terminology and what it means. The VX2 is at the top end of what I am willing to spend most likely. Don't know if I am experienced enough to even notice the differences between it and the lower end scopes. What do you guys think? Probably thinking that I'm crazy to spend a $1000 on an off the rack rimfire rig.
