1. I reach for the S&W model 67 .38 on the nightstand, and the light and phone and electronic ear Pro beside it. 2. 125gr hollowpoints 3. Loaded D/A This gun is only there to provide defense while my wife and I move from the bed through the bathroom into the closet. I give my wife the phone and tell her to call 911. We get to the closet and I hand her the revolver and pickup the Winchester model 1300 20ga loaded with 00 buckshot. The rest of the box of shells and a box of 3/4oz 1600fps slugs is there beside it. I put the ears on and turn them all the way up, allowing me to hear every footstep my dog takes, so I will probably hear whoever is in the house. We have a smell good warmer with a light just outside the door of our room, so we’ll know when they turn that corner, looking in the dresser mirror. When they turn the next corner into the doorway of the bathroom, they are sidelit/silhouetted by the motion light on the back porch that they triggered just before they broke the glass. I am now about 22 feet from them and all they should see is a black hole, followed by a bright flash. My family and friends all know that if you come to my house in the evening, especially after dark, I will answer the door armed. A couple of my neighbors have learned this as well, one of them chasing a young colt that got out last summer at about 11:00 when I was up late working. He was very appreciative that I helped him catch her, after he got over the slight scare. Live Simply, Love Generously, Care Deeply, Speak Kindly, Shoot Well, Leave the rest to God.
