I completely understand your frustration man - and I'm right there with you, but don't let it jade you to the fact that the Republican party drove voters away by moving away from what their party stands for - the voters didn't betray the party. I don't know anyone on this board who loves Obama (and disdain for Romney does not equal love for Obama), but I don't remember anyone who said Romney was the same as Obama saying that neither would attack the 2nd - I believe we all knew that no matter who was in office at the time, they'd still screw us. At the end of the day, I still stand on the opinion that Romney and Obama are the same person - and I have equal amounts of disdain for both. Either would readily screw us and while I'm a Libertarian at heart, I don't know that Ron Paul was the best choice, but he represented well more of what I believed in than either of these two clowns (same with Gary Johnson). The folks who felt betrayed by Romney being our only candidate aren't at fault for Barry's win - at the end of the day the republican party is at fault for putting a clone up in the hopes of dragging some of the liberal vote over our way. The Dems were well more organized this round and did play every card they could and as dirty as they knew how to. We will suffer for it as a result, but speculating on what would have been accomplishes nothing. I only hope the Republican party realizes how weak their grip on things was and they go back to the drawing board and come back with a candidate that actually represents their party and the people of this country. I still predict that all those swing-voting-Democrats are realizing they got caught up in the hype and now that it's affecting their paycheck (and I truly believe that voter apathy is so severe in this country that hitting the ole pocketbook is the only way to piss voters off), they will swing back hard. I honestly wonder what things are going to be like with a nearly all-Republican president/cabinet and congress. That's my prediction. Romney did get things done - have you actually looked at his track-record in MA? He signed an AWB among other liberal endorsements/signatures. Sure he represented the state's rights, but just because Federal rights come second to State's rights... that doesn't mean that State's rights should trample individual rights (they come first and foremost). Outside of those identical stances on issues, Romney is just as unknown as Barry was as he had less political experience (Barry had 2 terms as a state senator where he actually has a voting record to identify where he stands - even if it proves he was a wishy-washy liberal). I've got no love for Obama - and I spend a great deal of time debating with Democrats about how F@#$ed up their party/president is at the moment, but that doesn't jade my view on how F@#$ed up the Republicans are either. To lose site of that would be just as dangerous.
