How long before the next massive governmental push for gun control?

More shootings, more deaths, more outright loonies... they just keep coming.

What can we do to stop this seemingly ongoing tide of people shooting up the public? I know we have groups like Moms Demand Action and Bloomberg's Mayors group, but I mean from the government. I know there's always a baseline level of anti-gun sentiment and rhetoric, which always ticks upwards after one of these events...

But I'm thinking about the massive (failed) campaign from Dec '12 through March '13, when we were really not sure if it would happen or not. They WILL keep trying, and sadly, I think they WILL win... eventually. :( Too damn many sheeple in this country, and too many whackadoos who want to take out a bunch of others with them. And too many news outlets ready to hop on the bandwagon.

It sucks... myriad mental health issues, substance addictions, voter and citizen disenfranchisement, apathy and splitting the masses into opposing groups is going to tear this country apart if we can't find some common ground. :( Either that, or it will lead to a steadily-increasing rate of the erosion of our rights until a simple police state exists and we fill the role of the former Soviet Union/Eastern Bloc.

:(

Yeah it's a sad situation.

BUT, the more that ANY shootings are over-televised and sensationalized, the more "conditioned" and apathetic the masses become.

Why don't we here more about all the killings that happen daily by gun violence in Chicago??
Hmm.

I have wondered, maybe someone knows. Are there more mass shootings when Democrats are in office or when Republicans are in office? Is there a correlation?

Also are there more mass shootings when a special interest group is trying to get a anti-gun bill passed, verses when they are not? is there a correlation?

I've heard that there were, although I freely admit that I can't back it up. I don't want to insinuate that anti-gun groups are behind any of these shootings but some feel that they certainly derive more political benefit from a mass-shooting than does the NRA, for example. And that makes a certain amount of sick sense.

But nothing shows that they instigated any spree-shootings

I believe next year there will be a bunch of Bloomberg/Soros funded "studies" being released that will likely show things like "less guns in a society means less deaths and injuries because of guns" in this society.
Of course this is obvious and completely ignores the real metric of actual homicides, suicides and violent crime per capita.....after controlling for factors like average age in society, demographic diversity, economic level of society, educational level, etc....you know a real study like John Lott would do. Get ready for whatever is left of the lame stream media to take each "study" and trumpet it to their progressive faithfuls who still watch and listen to them....and expect the progressive politicians to talk about this....after all this our beloved POTUS's last chance to leave another meaningful legacy.....after the government healthcare law aka Obamacare......
