Hybrid Thought 40 S&W

So I have a carbine in 40 S&W Hi-Point with 16" barrel.
I also have a pistol same brand and same caliber.

I was thinking the other day I wonder if i could make that carbine into a long barrel pistol like 8" barrel.
Then thought I wonder how much velocity i would lose.
I googled this and found Not much loss in that round.
