My sister was in your ball park for many years. When she finally got one she still relied on the land line. A year into the cell, she dumped the landline. I just activated the newest iPhone 15 Pro Max. If it detects a collision, it calls 911. It asks before doing that. Remember those folks that have a medical issue, go off a bridge and die after a couple days trapped inside? Problem solved. If the phone detects me falling, it sends a message to ask if I’m ok after 10 seconds. If not responding, it sends my location to my wife and son or anyone I wish to designate. If in a part of the country with no cell service, I can send an SoS via satellite with my location. Tons of other benefits that as one ages can be of benefit including if in an accident, and unable to help yourself, there is your medical info available for first responders to see what your allergic to or other medical issues if one chooses to set up the phone that way. It’s not required and no one can access it if activated. I look on it as a method to help not only myself but my wife if in an accident if we are together which is a lot. Technology can be a game changer if one wants it to be.
