So there I was thinking about my Budget build list,,, And I thought I would go the opposite direction. Here's the component list for a build,,, Using nothing but KIDD components.

10/22 Build - KIDD Available Item

Starting Balance 1,200.00

Receiver -242.00 958.00 KIDD Aftermarket Black .22LR Receiver Classic Slip Fit Model

Bolt -141.00 817.00 KIDD .22LR Bolt -Black Matte

Trigger -285.00 532.00 KIDD Single Stage Trigger Black

Barrel -358.00 174.00 KIDD 18" fluted barrel, black, polished, threaded

Stock -69.95 -853.95 Magpul - MOE® X-22 Stock – Ruger® 10/22

Total $1,095.95

Basically that eats the entire $1,200 up,,, And I haven't figured Transfer fee, tax, or shipping. And then there's the scope to consider,,, I would "guesstimate" at least $3-400 bucks for a quality optic. So there's the High End build. Here's the Low End build.

Budget Build Available Item

Starting Balance 1,200.00

Complete Receiver set -259.99 940.01 Ruger - 10/22 Complete Receiver – BX Target Trigger version

Barrel -202.00 738.01 Shaw - 10/22® .920 BULL BARREL 18" BLUED STRAIGHT FLUTES THREADED

Stock -69.95 668.06 Magpul - MOE® X-22 Stock – Ruger® 10/22

Total $531.11

In both cases I have selected the least expensive stock I could find,,, My thinking here is that choosing a stock is very personal. It might work out that I offer a fixed amount of cash,,, So my friend can pick out the stock he likes best. If I build one 10/22 clone (is that what they are called?),,, I might want to build another one for myself,,, Having a spare stock could be handy. Again, this is all speculation,,, I'm still waiting on the 10/22 book I ordered. No decisions will be made,,, And no components will be ordered,,, Until I've devoured all of the books knowledge. In any event I now have a better understanding,,, Of just how far my $1,200 can go. But just to speculate a bit further,,, My thinking after being a shooter for decades now,,, Is that the most important component is the trigger assembly. The accuracy of the most precise action and barrel,,, Can be negated by a bad trigger. Conversely, a mediocre rifle can be greatly enhanced,,, By the use of a "good" trigger. That's been my experience anyhow,,, Aarond .
