Never had to shoot hogs, have tried but they evaded me. FIL put two 30-06 in one and three into the second, both were north of 500 pounds. They were still coming up to the last shot. Personally I want a bit more lead coming out. 308 or 30-06 or 30-30 etc I have shot two Diamondbacks next to my CORE15. No comparison. Even the DB owners preferred mine and got better groups. I also recommend the Beretta Storm. Very capable carbine straight out of the box. Simple to use and you can pair the rifle with a pistol to maintain the same magazines. If you have no pride the hi-point carbine is solid but limited in magazine capacity. Do NOT use after market magazines with one. Red ball is ok. I have now been with four right out of the box and all were dead on from the first round. I have one in 45 ACP and it is a dear. Handles +P with ease. If you do not care about owning possibly the ugliest gun you have ever seen.
