I think I'm in Lust. Tell me about the SOCOM-16.

You must have it BAD if YOU are thinking about selling some guns.

No kidding!!!

It is worse than being duct taped to a chair in a 24 hour porn theater and being forced to swallow a couple "little blue pills"!!!

Of course, I just said I was "thinking" about selling. I haven't listed anything............yet.

I've been an "AR guy" forever. But I'm telling you, this little beauty has gotten under my skin.

any M1A is nice. I still miss my M1A National Match. I can attest to the loud report of the SOCOM-16. I had a friend pull one out on his land and proceed to do a mag dump without warning. I damn hear kicked his ass for it. My ears wouldn't quit ringing.

The one down side to the SOCOM-16 and any M1A for that matter is. . . . You will want another one. And they cost so damn much its hard to scratch that itch.

There are cheaper than a new ATV and have a better return if you decide to sell it. I have owned four over the years and never lost a dime on any of them. Lots of M1a safequeens out there. Not so many SOCOM 16's tho.

To each his or her own; I shot a SOCOM-16 once, and thought "Meh." I prefer a full-length M1A, and even then, I only have one. M1 Garands are more to my liking, and at this time, they're also considerably cheaper to shoot than a M1A if you have access to milsurp ammo.

If you've gotta have a carbine version, I greatly prefer the 18" barreled models, like the Springfield Scout and the higher quality mil spec ones from the upper end mfg's. They keep the GI gas system/front sight/flash hider setup instead of the SOCOM's proprietary parts. With a short flash hider like a Vortex, they are barely any longer, and handle just as good... better really, without the giant quad rail setup the SOCOM II has. If you want a forward mounted optic, the Ultimak M8 scout mount is better than the factory mounts. Light weight, and low enough to co-witness a red dot with the irons. The irons are the best part about these rifles!

If I were in the market for another M-14 type, I would be looking at 7.62mm Firearms. They build mil spec rifles with Criterion chrome lined barrels.
