IDPA Sunday March 11 OCRGC

Your next Oil Capital IDPA match will be Sunday March 11th . Set-up commences at 0730, sign-in at 0900 and walk-thru at 1000. Match fee is $12 ($10 for OCR&GC members). Expect something a bit over 100 rounds.

An IDPA Classifier will follow Saturday’s match, assuming the predicted good weather holds out. There will be additional Classifiers offered in coming weeks. The Classifier requires 90 rounds. Every IDPA member must shoot a Classifier every 12 months to retain a current Classification in each Division in which they hold a classification. Cost to shoot Classifier is $5; n/c to OCR&GC members. Classifications will be calculated via Beach Bunny and updated classification issued on the spot.

Todd and I are looking for Safety Officers and other Staff volunteers for the Badlands. Staff/SO shoots for ZERO entry fee. They also get their own special random draw table, in addition to a chance at the general random draw table. The only limitation is that you can win only ONE gun. Staff/SO shoot their match beginning on Friday, finishing it up on Saturday and Sunday. Send me a PM if you are interested.

Not really that much heavy rain out Oil Capital way. We had off and on mist to drizzle to nothing and back around again. For one brief 15 minute period, we hid out in the toast warm Pistol Pavilion room. Otherwise we did fine with the ample range covers. We shot a Classifier afterwards too.

Thanks everyone for coming out! Results are out via BCC email to the shooters; PM me if yours does not find you. The weather was a mixture of clouds, occasional drizzle and one 15 minute spate of light rain. We set up on weather resistant targets and shot right on anyway. A fine time was had by all. The new shooters learned a few things. The “happy hands” guys took a few rounds, but not many considering their population on the range. We shot a Classifier after the match; results for it are already gone to the HQ computer Classification system.

The only time we’ll cancel a match is when the weather had made travel to the range unsafe. That will be posted up in advance of the match. Due the plentitude of range covers and gravel shooting bays, we can shoot in most any weather. We will take a short break, to hide in one of the several temperature controlled building, where there is lighting in the vicinity.

Badlands & Oklahoma State 2012 is coming right along. The entries are coming in well, a bit ahead of last year’s pace when we had 150 shooters.
