An exotic animal zoo owner and former gubernatorial candidate has been indicted in federal court.

Joseph "Joe Exotic" Maldonado-Passage, 55, was indicted on two counts of hiring a person to commit murder in the Western District Court of Oklahoma.

I was looking at the gun cases at Big Boys Guns in Mustang a short time back and one of the guys there was showing me a S&W 686 in fair condition that Joe Exotic had sold to them. He said that Mr. Exotic told them he was selling all his guns and moving to Belize.

Note that these are federal charges; the charge is most likely for "using an interstate communications device in furtherance of a felony," or somesuch. The State of Oklahoma can probably bring charges of Solicitation of Murder in the First Degree, 21 O.S. 701.16, which carries a minimum of 5 years (no maximum listed in the statute).
