[QUOTE="John6185, post: 3470948, member: 25679"] We watched a documentary last night which was more of a movie on the imdb streaming app about the Lonesome Dove Church which is still operating in McKinney Texas. In 1846, a large wagon train full of people left Platt County, Missouri to make a new life in the Republic of Texas. This group of pioneers settled in the "Crosstimbers" area, now known as Grapevine-Southlake. The pioneers began to meet in different homes for worship as many more settlers continued to pour into the area. On the third Saturday of February, 1846, a growing group of Christ followers met at the log cabin home of Charles Throop. There they formed the Lonesome Dove Baptist Church. I enjoy history, especially western history.
