This is something I probably would never buy, but I was given one so I'm trying it out. I have used one a lot at work with the little pods but I doubt that I will use those because they are expensive and I'm a tightwad.

I have a reusable pod that I can put my own coffee in and that works pretty well except for cleaning it out after each use. I'm thinking of getting a carafe so that I can make more than 12 ounces at a time.

So does any one have any tips or tricks on the use and maintenance of one of these rigs?

Unless they changed it, your reusable pod might not work with the Keurig 2.0, or at least that was the case at one time.

But there are probably dozens of youtube videos on how to work around it.

Keurig tried to make it so you could only use Keurig authorized pods, but there was significant backlash. They might have backed off, but as far as I know other models don't have that restriction, but the 2.0.... might. You can find out easily enough just by making a cup with your reusable pod.

If it's the touch screen model, ours lasted about 2 weeks before it would barely make half a cup.

    That's too bad.

This one has been in use at work for about four years and still going strong except for a small broken part on the lid that caused it to lock open, but I found an easy work around for it.

Okay, that's good news. It sounds like they thought better of it, and fixed it. I bought a new Keurig Elite several months ago, and it did not have that limitation.

I have one. It works but you have to get the knack for how full to fill it and even then some water goes around the pod vs. going through it. The old version works much better and you can find filters that actually fit them. You just have to fill them chock full of coffee and use the "dark" button to get it strong enough.

The 2.0 holds more but seems to be too restrictive if you cut a filter for it, but it will work. I'm a titewad too. :coffee:

We’re on our 4th Elite model. Beware the auto on feature. All of them worked normally for the first month then when the auto on feature activated it would dump the entire tank of water. Replacements sent by Keurig did the same thing. Now we just leave it powered on all the time.

I am thinking about getting some of the little paper filters for the reusable pod to make it easier to empty and reduce sediment.

Maybe I'm missing something. Makes no sense to me to buy an expensive coffee maker just so you can use expensive pods to make a cup of coffee. Buy a 12 cup maker and a couple pounds of Folgers. Good coffee for cheap.
